LXD Season 3, Episode 4 “Can’t Dance” Online

Posted by Beast575 with No Comments

I have to say that this is my favorite episode of the season so far! This installment takes us back to the present, where we are reunited with our heroes. The legendary Jamal Sims takes the reigns on both the choreography and direction this episode, and several familiar faces surface for the first time in the online series. Among them, you may recognize Step Up 2′s Mari Koda, Step Up 3′s Tamara Levinson, and Emilie Livingston, who has performed with the LXD on numerous occasions.

LXD Short Film “Game On” Online!

Posted by Beast575 with 5 Comments

The LXD filmed a special short film a while back that was viewed exclusively to audiences of the “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Director’s Cut.” After months of waiting, the project has finally reached the internet, thanks to one of its stars, Simrin Player. The short also features the talents of Step Up 3D star Kendra Andrews, Chad “Madd Chadd” Smith, who plays the character of Sp3cimen in the online webseries, and Cameron Boyce, who portrayed a young Dark Doctor in the episode, “Orgins.”

The short was directed by Ryan Landels and Harry Shum Jr. (Elliot Hoo), choreographed by Galen Hooks, and also features JoAnne Yarrow as the voice of the game program.

Harry Shum Jr. Stars in “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie”

Posted by Beast575 with No Comments

Harry Shum Jr. recently went on tour with the Glee cast, where he not only starred as the character of Mike Chang, but as choreographer and alternate dancer to the LXD, who served as the tour’s opening act. The tour has since ended, but for those of you who may have missed it, you can catch all the excitement in “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie,” which can be seen in movie theaters for a limited 2-week period of time! Unfortunately, you may not catch the LXD’s performance in the flick, but you can catch Harry dancing in some fantastic numbers like this one:

Other dancers in the film include Heather Morris (who plays the character of Brittany), former “So You Think You Can Dance” contestants Courtney Galiano and Jaymz Tuaileva, “Dancelife” star Nick Baga, Hannah Douglass, Kyle Hill, Michael Riccio, KC Monnie, and Haylee Roderick.

Catching Up for Lost Time

Posted by Beast575 with 1 Comment

Sorry about the lack of updates, folks! Me and my counterpart have been especially busy as of late, as you may have noticed. So, here are the most important things that have happened within the past couple of weeks that you need to know about:

  • Kathryn McCormick (pictured above), one of the ballerinas from the short film, “Matched,” has been cast as the lead role in the upcoming “Step Up 4,” directed by Scott Speer. Her character, Emily, is described on the casting website as, “21/Beautiful/Privileged. Her mom died five years ago, it’s a tough reality with uber-successful, ‘father knows best’ dad, Mr. Anderson. Formally trained classical, lyrical dancer. Quarter life crisis – Just graduated NYU, but Emily still holds onto her dream of being a professional dancer. In Miami for the summer and at a crossroads in her life. Strong, smart, and sassy. Always has her guard up against guys, she assumes everyone wants to date her for her money. She meets Sean, who introduces her to his flashmob: a free form, no rules creative outlet, coupled with rebellion and risk.” You can also catch Kathryn as an all-star on the Wednesday’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
  • Daniel “Cloud” Campos (The Illister) can be seen as the lead male in Sade’s new music video, “Love Is Found.”
  • The LXD has posted a new photo of Season 3 on their twitter and facebook pages. The picture features Ashley Galvan alongside four other women dressed in military attire; the caption reads, “FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE. LXD SEASON THREE. COMING SOON.”
You can view the photo here.
  • LXD choreographer Christopher Scott had two featured routines on this past week’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.” One routine highlighted Invisible Children’s cause, and another was a beautiful lyrical routine set to “Just the Way You Are.” You can see the routines here and here.
  • Although Jeremy Marinas won’t be returning in Season 3, he will be appearing in the upcoming film, “The Hunger Games,” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, set to be released in 2012. He’s released a video promoting his appearance in the movie. You can watch his video here.
  • Team iLuminate featuring LXD members John “JRock” Nelson,  Jay “JSmooth” Gutierrez, Philip “Spee-D” Albuquerque, and Ivan “Flipz” Velez, has made it to the Top 48 on “America’s Got Talent!” Click here to find out more, and click here to see their audition.
  • Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb stars in an online youtube series, “AXI,” or, “Avengers of Xtreme Illusions.” The series is similar to the LXD in style and storytelling, and great for any LXD fan who can’t wait for Season 3. You can watch the first episode here. Episode Two will feature fellow IaMmE members Emilio “Millie” Dosal (choreo video) and Brandon “747″ Harrel (choreo video). IaMmE, winners of “America’s Best Dance Crew,” will be appearing in The LXD’s third season.
  • Harry Shum Jr. was the guest coach for the cast of the Glee Project on the episode, “Dance ability.” Be warned, he doesn’t dance himself. He just coaches the dancing! Watch the episode here.

Harry Shum On The Five Best Things About The “Glee” Tour

Posted by admin with No Comments

Boston.com asked Harry Shum about the “5 Best Things About The “Glee” Tour” and one of them is of course The LXD.

1. Performing live for thousands of screaming fans. “We’re usually cooped up in a room [on set]. I toured with Beyoncé before, so I’ve gotten to experience that large crowd but this is cool because instead of us being in the background, people are cheering for us, which is mind-blowing.’’

2. Rock star perks. “You ask for things and they magically appear. The only thing I abuse it for is my love for certain sauces, like Sriracha. I’m a simple guy so little things like that make me happy.’’

3. Combining two worlds since LXD is opening the show. “Those are a lot of my friends and co-workers from the past. I assistant directed the LXD, so I’m back there helping out and making sure that’s all working before the show, and then I go into ‘Glee’ duties.’’

4. Interacting with fans. “It’s great to get feedback to hear what they love and what they don’t like.’’

5. Sightseeing. “You get paid to travel and see all these amazing places!’’

News: LXD Season 3 To Be Released at the End of Summer!

Posted by Beast575 with No Comments

Choreographer and LXD member Harry Shum Jr. reveals in an interview with “Vanity Fair” that the LXD episodes just shot for Season 3 are looking to be out by the end of summer. He also says to watch out for several new projects hopefully coming out in the future.

Besides the tour, what have you got planned for this hiatus?

Harry Shum Jr. Well, I just finished three funny video shorts with Wong Fu productions that just went up on YouTube this week [here, here, and here]. The LXD is opening again this year for the Glee Tour and I artistic-directed the opening act. We started shooting episodes for season three of the LXD and our hope is to get these episodes out at the end of summer. And I’m developing stuff. That’s what’s great about the road. After you do your first five or six shows, you kind of get used to it, and you have a little more time to kind of do stuff. I’m going to write on the road, and when I get back hopefully pitch a couple shows, some fun, creative stuff. And then I hope that I’ll be on season three of Glee in the fall. [Laughs.]
