Mass Update: 9/29/2011

I’m sorry for the lack of updates, guys. I’ve been super busy. I wish I had time to put these all in their own posts, but for now they’re going to have to stay clumped together. Here are the major things going on in the LXD world that I’ve missed these past couple weeks:

LXD News

  • Mike Song (Umbra) posted some of the rehearsal footage of the dancers from the episode, “Reprogram.” Check it out HERE. The video features choreography by Mike Song and Kenneth “Free Boogie” Crawford, and is danced by Madd Chadd and Pandora, Umbras Brandon Phillips, Cassidy Noblett, H20, Taichi, JD McElroy and Jesse Morales, and Energies Free Boogie, Mike Song, Anthony Lee, and Tony Tran.

LXD Season 3, Episodes 5 “Salvage,” 6 “Reprogram,” and 7 “Ra Games” Online!

This week’s episodes features the directorial talents of Ryan Landels and LXD newbie Jason Russell and choreography by Kenneth “Free” Crawford, Mike Song, Luis “Luigi” Rosado, and David “Kid David” Schreibman. These episodes reintroduce some old friends, as well as some old enemies. Enjoy!

Video: The LXD Performs at Choreographers Carnival 12yr Anniversary *UPDATED*

The LXD performs at Choreographers Carnival 12yr Anniversary at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. This year Carnival honored Travis Payne for the Lifetime Achievement Awards. The event is produced every month by Carey Yasis, Paulette, DMK in association with the World of Dance, Myron Marten and 21XL. You can catch The LXD shows on Hulu which is produced/directed by Jon M. Chu. Jon M. Chu is also the director for the upcoming Justin Bieber film Never Say Never.

The piece was choreographed by Harry Shum, Galen Hooks, and Christopher Scott. The performance features  Brandon Philips, JD McElroy, Johnny Erasme, Bryan Tanaka, Nugget, Slick, JRock, Pandora, Milky, Jeremy Marinas, Beastmode, Machine, and more.  The piece also features some previously unseen ballerinas, including former SYTYCD contestant Ashley Galvan.

Pandora writes on her twitter that this is a villain piece, so are we to assume that Justin Starr, along with these new characters, are set to turn to the dark side in Season 3?

Upcoming LXD Performance?

Rehearsals are already in session for the year of 2011, and the LXD is prepping for a fantastic year. Johnny Erasme, one of the Umbras, tweeted earlier today:

LXD rehearsal. Great way to start off the new year….
He also spent time with fellow Umbra Brandon Philips the day before, so there it’s a safe bet that the Umbra will be making an appearance soon. We’ll keep you posted as more information is revealed!

Video: The LXD Perform on Conan

The LXD performed for the ‘Conan’ show last night. This may be the first performance where every member is in character according to the web series. This performance did not include any LXD heroes, and instead focused on the villains–namely the Umbra and the Ox. Performers include Shelby Rabara (Dark Nurse), Brandon Philips, Brandon Shaw, Mike Song, JD McElroy and Johnny Erasme (Umbras), Anis Cheurfa (Achilles), Boogie Frantick (The Wave), Slick and Nugget (Eaters), Pandora (Autumn), B-boy Casper (Peetie), Tarrance Harrison and B-boy Gee. The piece was choreographed by Harry Shum, Jr. and Christopher Scott.

Catch the LXD on Conan Tonight!!

The LXD will be performing on “Conan” tonight on TBS at 11 pm. Don’t miss it! It sounds like this performance tonight will be heavily Ox/Umbra influenced. The only heroes that have been confirmed to be in attendance tonight are Harry and Chris, but my guess is that their involvement is limited to choreography. It will be interesting to see how this performance plays out without any good guys around!

“Chapter 16: The Greater of Two Evils” Online!

The sixth season of Season 2 introduces us to another villainous group called the Umbras. This episode was directed by Charles Oliver, and also marks the debut of dancers Casper Smart, Luke Broadlick, Ryan ‘McLovin’ Houchin as the Ox and Brandon Philips, Giovanni ‘Cornbread’ Watson, Bryan Tanaka, Dondraico Johnson as the Umbras.
