Posted by Beast575 with No Comments

Trickers Samy Ly, Jeremy Marinas and Tara Macken join forces for this fun, short action film about a girl trying to escape her captives. Jeremy Marinas is one of the original LXD members, performing with the troupe several times and appearing as the character of Johnny Starr in Season One. Tara Macken has only one credit to the LXD, appearing as the lone female dancer in the episode, “The Greater of Two Evils.” Watch the two kick some serious tail alongside friend Sam Ly in the clip below.

You can catch Jeremy, Tara, Sam, and choreographer/cinematographer Chris Mark in the upcoming film, “The Hunger Games,” representing Districts 4, 5, 7, and 10.

Catching Up for Lost Time

Posted by Beast575 with 1 Comment

Sorry about the lack of updates, folks! Me and my counterpart have been especially busy as of late, as you may have noticed. So, here are the most important things that have happened within the past couple of weeks that you need to know about:

  • Kathryn McCormick (pictured above), one of the ballerinas from the short film, “Matched,” has been cast as the lead role in the upcoming “Step Up 4,” directed by Scott Speer. Her character, Emily, is described on the casting website as, “21/Beautiful/Privileged. Her mom died five years ago, it’s a tough reality with uber-successful, ‘father knows best’ dad, Mr. Anderson. Formally trained classical, lyrical dancer. Quarter life crisis – Just graduated NYU, but Emily still holds onto her dream of being a professional dancer. In Miami for the summer and at a crossroads in her life. Strong, smart, and sassy. Always has her guard up against guys, she assumes everyone wants to date her for her money. She meets Sean, who introduces her to his flashmob: a free form, no rules creative outlet, coupled with rebellion and risk.” You can also catch Kathryn as an all-star on the Wednesday’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
  • Daniel “Cloud” Campos (The Illister) can be seen as the lead male in Sade’s new music video, “Love Is Found.”
  • The LXD has posted a new photo of Season 3 on their twitter and facebook pages. The picture features Ashley Galvan alongside four other women dressed in military attire; the caption reads, “FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE. LXD SEASON THREE. COMING SOON.”
You can view the photo here.
  • LXD choreographer Christopher Scott had two featured routines on this past week’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.” One routine highlighted Invisible Children’s cause, and another was a beautiful lyrical routine set to “Just the Way You Are.” You can see the routines here and here.
  • Although Jeremy Marinas won’t be returning in Season 3, he will be appearing in the upcoming film, “The Hunger Games,” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, set to be released in 2012. He’s released a video promoting his appearance in the movie. You can watch his video here.
  • Team iLuminate featuring LXD members John “JRock” Nelson,  Jay “JSmooth” Gutierrez, Philip “Spee-D” Albuquerque, and Ivan “Flipz” Velez, has made it to the Top 48 on “America’s Got Talent!” Click here to find out more, and click here to see their audition.
  • Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb stars in an online youtube series, “AXI,” or, “Avengers of Xtreme Illusions.” The series is similar to the LXD in style and storytelling, and great for any LXD fan who can’t wait for Season 3. You can watch the first episode here. Episode Two will feature fellow IaMmE members Emilio “Millie” Dosal (choreo video) and Brandon “747″ Harrel (choreo video). IaMmE, winners of “America’s Best Dance Crew,” will be appearing in The LXD’s third season.
  • Harry Shum Jr. was the guest coach for the cast of the Glee Project on the episode, “Dance ability.” Be warned, he doesn’t dance himself. He just coaches the dancing! Watch the episode here.

Breaking News: Jeremy Marinas NOT Returning for Season 3!

Posted by Beast575 with 1 Comment

It’s official. After Travis Wong asked on twitter if Jeremy Marinas (Justin Starr, “Antigravity Heroes“) had reprised his role in Season 3, Jeremy simply replied, “Nope.”  He did, however, express interest in returning, particularly to doing a live show. Jeremy has performed numerous times with the LXD since his last episode, and his storyline has several loose ends that need tying up. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are in desperate need of a fourth season to wrap things up.

“Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” Out On DVD

Posted by Beast575 with 1 Comment

Yes, “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” is an essential for the LXD fan! I understand why you may be skeptical, but trust me–this is something you won’t want to miss! Why, you ask?

For starters, it was directed by the LXD’s writer, creator, director, and producer Jon M. Chu. He was successful in making this movie the highest-grossing concert movie in the world. The Justin Bieber movie also ranks third in the world’s highest grossing documentaries.

The film features fanboyz Straphonio “Shonnie” Solomon, Aja George, and Nick DeMoura as some of the lead dancers. And if that’s not good enough, you can spot LXD choreographer and performer Jonathan “Legacy” Perez and trickers Anis Cheurfa and Jeremy Marinas.

This DVD is chalk full of LXD goodness! Support the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers and pick up your copy today!

Jeremy Marinas and Tara Macken Cast in “Hunger Games”

Posted by Beast575 with No Comments

THE HUNGER GAMES will be directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Collins’ best-selling novel, which has over 3 million copies in print in the United States alone, is the first in a trilogy of science fiction/action novels which have developed a global following.

“The Hunger Games” chronicles a dystopic Capitol which requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl, forced to participate in the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Katniss Everdeen’s little sister is chosen in the lottery to participate and Katniss volunteers to take her place. Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.

LXD tricker Jeremy Marinas, known for playing the character of Justin Starr, has been cast in “The Hunger Games” as the Tribute Boy of District 10, recognized for his limp. Joining him is Tara Macken as Tribute Girl of District 4. Tara plays the lone female Ox member in the Season 2 episode, “The Greater of Two Evils.” Macken is one of the lesser known LXD individuals, so those unfamiliar with her work can check her out in her new training video below:
